Leadership roles in a global setting

It is quite common for everyone to admire a favorite actor/ actress. I have nothing to criticize on this aspect. In fact, I admire people who strive to have role models and play dream roles at work. A mundane job at hand becomes work when people have ideals and dreams. So the debate is certainly not on the efforts of the leader to play his/ her role.

What is hilarious is when a senior executive secretly seems to play his favorite actor's role at the meeting table in his/her office setting with a mix of fellow team members from different parts of the globe.

Imagine the show - it is a cinema with local flavors being watched by a global audience with an amateur director at the center! Some of the audience are quite familiar with the gimmicks/ gestures while others have no clue as to why the leader talks/acts a certain way. The audience are quite confused and wonder if their actions have caused this display!

Many leaders in the global setting of the IS profession believe they are in the knowledge industry and don't pay much attention to their tone and mannerisms.

Points to ponder:

How can a leader translate his/ her gestures from a local setting to a global setting?

How about the leader paying some attention to his/ her own gestures.

Any training/ expectations in this context?
